Really cool game ! Cute art really original idea and fun mechanic. The last part of the last sword a bit hard tbh. I almost stopped playing on the first part where you kind of have to squeeze the sword in that little hole, it felt way too advanced for a game am game. That being said it's really cool and had a lot of fun. Really cool game !
I had a fun time beating this game. I might speedrun it after posting this video. I really enjoyed the mechanics and would love to see what is done with this game in the future.
Hiiii, I've made a video beating the game hehe ^^ and wanted to give you some feedback about it, hopefully it is useful to you :D
-The concept of the game has the "Getting Over It" vibes, but with a lot of differences on the gamefeel, and heving it's own identity.
-The visual style is really awesome and makes the game "easier" as it doesn't make the gameplay experience heavy, that helps considering the theme of the game :)
-The gameplay mechanics are really well thought and the level design is really good, I liked the way the "story" gets complemented with the gameplay mechanics.
Hopefully this is useful to you :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)
Hot take: Someone tell Bennett Foddy THIS is how you do a Bennett Foddy game: Solid tutorial & linear level progression (from actually doable so you can learn the mechanics to sorta challenging to challenging, etc) Checkpoints, and not forcing you to redo every fucking part of the stage if you mess up even once.
You're not punished for trying, you're encouraged try often and to do it right. If you want someone to "get gud' you don't punish every single attempt.
Or the example: "Which teacher do you want?" The one who smacks your head and makes you redo an entire sheet of homework if you mess up the font on a single letter, or the one that calms tells you to do it again if you mess up? You're actually going to learn something from the latter and despise the former. Perfection should NEVER be the goal: doing it right is, even if it's slightly off.
It has been a while, but I thought his whole thought process was more: make it as punishing and difficult because life is punishing and difficult. Sure, I get that, but like my teacher analogy, you're not really going to learn anything and only succeed only out of pure spite for the creator, if you are masochistic, or both. That style of game only proves who you are in the sense that you can handle a difficult/needless struggle, but it does nothing to actually improve the person and help them gain the skills to climb that mountain. In my opinion, that ability to help people grow and get good without punishing every single error is far, Far more important than just proving one's self.
overall a very good game! I enjoyed how you are forced to use your sword in very creative ways (i.e shuffling, scooting, etc). I appreciate how short it is- it challenges you greatly, and just when you say "if it makes me do one more level I'm quitting", It gives you the reward! Frustrating, but satisfying to complete! 9/10!
I finally understand why they call them "bastard" swords...
In all seriousness, well-done. I never thought I'd enjoy a "intentionally battling with the mechanics"-style game but I was hooked from start to end. Got a time of 18:13 my first time through; loved how concise and refined this feels for a game made under such a tight time pressure!
Managed to beat it. Love the concept, though the execution needs some work. There are a lot of mechanics to the physics that the puzzles rely on that a player who's just jumping in won't immediately be able to reliably use (the way the player gets pulled by the sword while on the ground, the reliance on throwing momentum for several puzzles, etc). Lots of puzzles I solved without actually understanding what I did, and others I had an idea of how to do it, but couldn't execute without blind luck. I had lots of fun playing it, but I do think there needs to be a difficulty curve tweak, if nothing else.
Very original concept but way too annoying for me. I quit, I just can't get the hang of it and keep failing hopping over the gap at the third length. Gonna give it a few more tries but I'm getting far too annoyed to bother. The game and the whole mechanic works flawlessly though!
On level 4 I managed to come a far way up, but then got stuck with my sword in a corner, so had to respawn. On the attempt after that I went via the lower route, which felt far too easy, lifting myself up the ledge.
Ok, now I'm quitting, level 5, didn't manage to get up further than that annoying gap in the wall. Liked the game, but it's got way too steep of a learning curve for me.
Love the art, and the gameplay was pretty fun once the finer details of the controls were figured out. Felt like I should have been able to 'feather' the sword a bit more, but that didn't stop me!

Isn't the entire point of Foddy's game being an extremely infuriating anti-game that wants you to quit it?

only on the fourth level ;-; I can see why this is compared to Getting Over It
I LOVE IT!!!!!
10/10 Do not recommend
is the game not loading for anyone else? I've left it for several minutes but there is only a black screen
nevermind, webgl was blocked for some reason
I... I acctually killed the dragon and got my kitty cat back... HOW DID MY CAT GET STUCK WITH A DRAGON
I finally understand why they call them "bastard" swords...

Very cute! Hope there's a downloadable version soon!
This game was amazing. I think that it's like taking the game get over it and changing the gameplay just a bit. This game has lots of potential.
I improved my time from 131:32 to 10:39, this is really getting more neat the more you play it.
I feel dirty now
Impressive game, congrats !
I was so close...
I got stuck here. No matter how much I spammed the buttons, I couldn't get the sword to wiggle out of that position :(
Edit: Forgot I could press "R" to respawn at checkpoint. All good!

interesting concept but quite often I feel like I'm fighting against the controls. the amount of coordination and patience required feels unrewarding.
i spent 26 minutes in this game and i loved not evan 1 of them but to be onest once you put that deep sowrd in the dragon "ahhh" it's a good game
Funny and frustrating. 👍
this game has a good concept but I hate it

Power of posting, made it through.

Great game, had some fun between classes with it. My only concern is how oddly sexual the dragon is on the end screen...
Why can't I launch the game?
i cant ether

This was probably one of the most difficult tiny games I've every played. Nice work!
Very fun and challenging game! Yet sadly not as challenging as trying to find a girl who won't laugh at the very thought of my size...
Sad. :(

Made it to level 5 only to go out and grab food and come back to realize I was still playing the game.
Its been awesome!!! Great mechanic!
One issue: it has a large amount of input lag when holding a movement button
Very good game! The last part is a bit tedius though, very trial and error, otherwise, good!
